We recently desided to explanned our living room. We have a porch 6x16ft , that is under the same roof as part of house. We want to expend living room and put porch across front. House is capecod w/2bdrm 1-bath up or front of house. We have enclosed and dried in outer wall of new part. Now inter wall of old living is just about ready to take out , but need to know how to support and at what type of beam to support 2nd floor. Will put temp wall studs up in order to put support bearing beam in living room. We thought of different ways to make it flush but don't think it would be good. Need to If 3 boards with waffle board in between boards, what type of boards 2x? and oak, pine, ash, ? Help , help , help, Don't want to make a mistake on this, its too important.
