We are looking at a 7 year old, 2-story frame house in Louisiana. The foundation is piers. It is on a bayou and there appears to be erosion on the bank of the bayou. The house is sinking as evidenced by a noticable slope both downstairs and upstairs. Also, there is some cracking of the brick facade and a little cracking on the inside drywall. My question is, is it possible to restore a house to its original position after it has significantly sank. If so, is this restoration permanent or will it sink again. Finally, will restoring the sinking house to its original position create any more cracks on the inside walls? Thanks for any advice.
