Although a plumber should be responsible for negligence, a plumber cant be responsible for everything. If he overtightened the parts, then he should hold some responsibility. But if the sink is extreemly old, sometimes theres nothing you can do. Everything has a life and nothing lasts forever. Plumbing is subject to the same factors of environment as is the car that drives along the street. Most cars are history after about 10 years.
Good Luck
