single light and ceiling fan with light kit on same circuit

Posted by George Rea on December 21st, 2000 11:18 AM

I have a room with a single switch that has two 2-wire and one 3-wire at the box. Switch controls a single ceiling light and a ceiling fan with light kit. One of the 2-wire continues to the outlets in the room and the garage below. The 3-wire first goes to the single ceiling light, and then on to the ceiling fan w/ light. The fan is the end of the circuit. Can I and how would I replace the single switch with a stack switch to control the single ceiling light and fan w. light separately? I do not want to have the fan and the fan light on separate switches. The pull chains work fine for me.
