Shower floor grout problems

Posted by Mike Marcelloni on September 9th, 2001 08:59 PM

I have noticed that the grount at the base of my shower is starting to "come away" where the shower walls meet the shower floor. I have since tried to seal that area with a latex caulking, but have since noticed that the same thing is happening with this product as well. Is there another type of caulk or sealer that I can use to stop water from leaking through the ceramic tiles? Also, I have noticed in behind the shower where I can see the wallboard (underneath my staircase), that I have developed some mould that appears to be coming from a possible condensation problem. Could this be coming from the gaps between the ceramic tiles, or is it simply from heat coming from the shower, and the cold air in my basement? Either way, the wallboard is wet, and starting to mould. What should I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please email any responses. Thank you!!!!!
