Shower arm installation ?

Posted by jimt on March 30th, 2000 08:52 AM

Some of you people will probably consider this question petty or maybe ridiculous, but when I took the arm out of the shower
wall it was pretty scratched up. I bought a new shower arm and head to install and have dry tested the arm. It takes about 4
turns to line up the arm and get tight. When I put about 4 wraps of teflon tape on the threads, will I still get 4 turns or will it
diminish to 3 turns to tighten the shower arm without a leak?? I didn't want to get 3 1/2 turns, backoff a 1/2 turn, and wind up
with water in the wall cavity. I just want to do it one time and not create a mess and scratch up the new parts. Thanks.
