Hi Kim, Jay is right about laying out the rafters
for your roof on the floor, it makes for a fool
proof fit as apposed to trying to squeeze the
rafters to fit the walls or vise-versa. But the
style of shed I feel should be one which looks
nice in your back yard as well as one which has
the utility of storage. I am a shed builder here
in Canada and I find my most popular is the
"saltbox" with a 6' wall, the head room is about
6'9" with a floor as you enter and the overhang of
12" at front of building serves well as storage
for paint, nails and "stuff". I have built all
styles and out of 1000 sheds, 4 were the gambrel
roof. Its only my opinion from what I've seen.
I can provide you with all you need to build
your shed from plans to colour photos for about
$20 US. I am not an arctitect or designer but
I know sheds. Email at &
I will send you some pictures of some 16x12's
I've built, and let me know what you think.
