Settling may not be a problem any more

When I first bought the house, there was a low spot right in front of the stairwell and the floor creaked in that area. The house is 80+ years old. A house inspector told me I had one broken floor joist and one that was cracked under the floor at the bottom of the stairwell.

I jacked up the main beams with bottle jacks and added several additional floor joists in the weak area. This leveled out the floor and stopped the creaking. I think the jacking is what caused the corners to distort so badly. In the bedroom above that area (adjacent to the stairwell), the wallpaper is torn right above the corners of the doors.

The corner in question is a real pain to get to, so I want to do it in the most sturdy way possible.

I bought 12 ft of the steel reinforced corner tape. What do you think of it?
