My family and I just bought a house about a month ago. Anyway, we had it inspected by an engineer prior to purchasing it. He could find no structural damage or anything that I should be worried about. Well, in the last few days, out back door has been getting VERY hard to close. As a matter of fact, I cant even close it all the way now. Its rubbing the top of the door frame now. I've also noticed that a large crack has formed where the ceiling and wall meet. This crack happens to be on the same side of the room as where the doorframe is rubbing, kind of like that side of the room has settled. We happen to live in a cold climate (Montana). After asking a few people that I work with, I was informed that since we've had a slightly colder than normal winter that this is a common occurence.
Has anyone else heard of anything like this? And what is there that I can do about it? I'm worried that the house is falling apart!
