Vaulted ceilings may crack between trusses at peek of vault due to expanding and contracting conditions, due to temprature changes. Non load bearing walls that show separations at ceiling marriage lines (angles) that re- accure after heavy rains, or over watering close to foundations can be a result of exspansive soil conditions found in the southwest. This condition causes the stem wall too drop or rise without movement of the concrete pad, resulting in a lift appearance in the ceiling/wall marriage line.. Look for Post tension in the concrete system. this reduces this problem..
