Hi - How can you tell if a dry well has falied? We do not have a leach field just a dry well off of our septic tank (1000 gallon) due to how close it is too our well. We had our septic pumped when it was due (2 yrs 8 mos for a family of 4) when it was pumped the water from the dry well was running back into the septic. They told us that we would need to put in a leach field asap because that is a sign that the dry well is shot & if not we will have an over flow with in a week. Of course they were willing to install the stae of the art system for $5500. It has now been over 1 month & we have no problems. We would like to put in a leach field eventualy but want ot make sure they are not trying to take us for a ride. (we have a new well & the new one is not near the septic)
