screw jack

I have a 160 year old house that needs some posts replaced in the cellar. I want to level some of the beams as I replace the posts - not perfectly level, of course, it is an old house! I have looked around for someone that sells screw jacks but am having a hard time. Any ideas? Also I've heard varying opinions on what type of support should go under the posts (I plan to use pressure treated 6x6s). Some say flat rocks, some say poured 2 sq ft slab, others say you can buy blocks.

Any help would be welcome.
