I have an awning on the rear of my house 20' wide by 10' out on a concrete slab. It was very easy to eliminate the existing aluminum supports and use 4x4 treated lumber for the supports and framing for the screen doors. One screen door exits to the swimming pool/yard area and the other on the end facing the driveway. 2x4 treated lumber was used for the bottom sill and the top piece for the screening to attach. Exterior plywood was placed 24" around the perimeter using 2x4's for framing. A 4x4 post was placed evenly around to attach the 48" aluminum screening using strips of 1/4 thick wood for hiding the seams. Some shelves were placed inside at the top of the 24" framing which is just right for people to place their drinks or food while sitting in lawn chairs. AL, Baltimore,Md
