I'm trying to find out some information on some wood floors seen in the Dallas, Texas area. Some custom home builder are putting in what they are calling "Scratched Oak". The floors look great and seem to hide some of the typical scratch marks and other slight damage easily seen on other finishes.
How do they accomplish this stressed or scratched look? What is the typical additional cost per sq ft over normal wood:? Are there any drawbacks to this approach? Is this approach new, old or just a trendy fad?
I would appreciate any help because my wife and I are thinking about doing this for a home we are currently building.
