I've got a real clear picture of what you've said. I don't see why I can't go stud to stud. The max I would lose in the opening is 16". Therefore, I would only have to install the header channel. Now, won't the finish nails make a u-turn once they hit the metal studs? Anyone that has ever installed trim with a finish nailer has had this happen,and it's not a pretty thing to see. Oh, by-the-way, there are no doors going into this opening. Again,thanks for your time in this post. Steve is saying,"If Ron J. has this much time posting his questions,why doesn't he have time to help with posting advise?". Shhhhhhh, maybe he won't hear this.
