If you are in south FL then you probably have sandy soil. You will at least need to put "landscape fabric" under the crushed granite to keep the stone from disappearing into the sand and the weeds from growing underneath. I also suggest that you put a border on the sides of the path to keep the stone in place. You can use treated 1 x 4 wood or hard plastic edging that is made for this purpose. Visit a large plant nursery or home center and they will give lots of free advice.
