If you want to get this done asap, then do not use the vacuum, instead buy a couple of sanding poles and dust masks. If you are going to texture, you can use 100 grit paper (being careful not to damage the paper), if you are going with a slick finish use 150 grit, both of these can be purchased for the pole. Always hand sand the angles and corners as sanding poles tend to leave undesirable tracks. Also any stubborn spots will be best to hand sand and faster, be careful not to "burn" the paper with the poles. Be sure to dust off the drywall after sanding, with a kitchen broom before painting or texturing.
