Sanborn compressor

I have an older upright Silver Bullet Sanborne compressor. The compressor unit itself has eight bolts on the top housing. Every few days I can hear air leaking from the housing and I have to torque down on the bolts until it stops. Recently I cracked a bolt, but I was able to remove it.

What do you suggest I do to remedy this problem once and for all? Is there a gasket that should be replaced, should I put some "lock tight" on the bolts etc.?

Thanks for your help.
