SAGGING

Posted by sagging floor on January 13th, 2002 11:03 AM

MY 100 YEAR OLD HOME IS BEING RENOVATED. THE PROBLEM IS MY 1ST FLOOR LIVINGROOM FLOOR IS SAGGING AT LEAST 4 INCHES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOUSE IAM COMPLETELY GOING TO GUT THIS ENTIRE ROOM SO ALOT OF WORK TO FIX WILL BE NO PROBLEM FOR ME .MY QUESTION IS CAN I RIP OFF ALL THE OLD FLOORING WHICH IS PINE TOUNGUE AND GROOVE,AND BOLT NEW JOIST TO THE OLD SHIMMING EACH JOIST LEVEL AS I GO?I DO NOT WANT TO TRY JACKING UP MY FLOOR FROM THE BASEMENT BECAUSE MY ENTIRE UPSTAIRS HAS BEEN REMODELED AND I DONT WANT TO CRACK ANY DRY WALL, OR DAMAGE ANY PLUMBING IN THE UPSTAIRS BATHROOM.
