designed for cutting counter tops. As you know, most sabre saw blades are made to cut on the up stroke, this would definately damage the top of the counter top. So,

Get the special blade made to cut on the down stroke, it will state on the package for laminate counter tops or surfaces where the top is not to be chipped.

For insurance, I would also lay down several strips of making tape the blue kind and then mark the line on the masking tape and the tape will also make it so the sled of the saw will not scratch the surface.

OH, yes, forgot to state, measure twice cut once.
