In reply to metal/ashplalt shingle roof tie-in by Bob Brown on April 13th, 2003 02:47 PM [Go to top of thread]

Yes Bob, I live in central Mississippi with fairly cold winters and hot humid summers. My project is a 16'x 76' patio cover I am installing myself on the back of my house. I have already set my posts and ran my ceiling joists back to the plate along the back wall. I will have 22' rafters that will extend up on the existing roof with an approximate 3 in 12 pitch. the existing roof is slightly steeper. I am going to put a metal roof on the whole roof but not at this time, it has only been on there for four years. I just want to make sure I have a good seal between the two, but have never joined them together before.. I had to order the tin and it has flutes every 9" and is 29 gauge and colored. Thanks for the reply am looking foreward to your helpful info.
thanks, Sam
