Basically what Jay J said, but to help the wall from leaning I would put a 6x6 four feet in the ground from the bottom of your retaining wall. Then lag it to your wall. And depending on soils, sand being the best, that is all you would need. Any other soil, half the distance up your wall lag a 4x4x8 on the 6x6 making a "T". I would do this every 8-10 feet depending on your material. Good luck....
