I have a tin molded ceiling in my bathroom that seems in good condition except the paint on it is cracked and peeling and it shows some signs of rust in a few spots. There seem to be several coats of paint. How would I go about removing the paint from this ceiling so that I can prepare it for repainting? I think the rust may be mostly from nails. Were other metals used for trimming or joining sections that would rust? This ceiling dates from about 1884. There are three other tin ceilings in my home from the same period, all different designs, that are in perfect condition. Thanks.
