RESTORING AND REFINISHING 120-YEAR-OLD PINE FLOOR

Posted by Dianna Penny on June 7th, 2000 04:11 PM

I wish to restore a wood floor in my 120-year-old house. My problem is this. Apparently the builders of this house were very frugal. They only finished a two-feet wide outer parameter of the room's floor and then placed a 9' x 12' area rug in the middle of the floor, leaving that part unfinished. I stripped the old finish off the floor's outer parameter which does not now match the part that has remained unfinished for 120 years. Can you give me some tips on how I can make the entire floor look uniform. I am new at this, but am trying to save some money by doing it myself.
