Restoring a cedar chest

Posted by Martha A. Howard on April 5th, 2000 02:42 PM

I have a cedar chest that I received from an Uncle around 1941. It is all hand carved with Chinese figures and lions lying down for the base. We moved from one state ot another and have had it in storage for about 4 years. When I finally got settled and moved into the house, I noticed the back had buckled. It seems to be maybe a piece that they had attached to the chest as all the rest may seem to be the same way but I was not aware of it for years. I am hoping that this can be repaired in some way or advise otherwise as it means very much to me in many ways. I am sure that something may have been put on top of it in storage but still hoping that it can be replaced or repaired.

Thank you in advance and I will be waiting for a response as soon as you are available as I am sure you get many requests for "help".
