I guess I meant to point out that it's not only money but a lot of time. . . weekends and weeknights after work. Also a boatload of Advil. I bet you might have some insight on a question my carpenter and I ran into. This house originally had cypress siding. Almost all of one side had to be replaced. I back primed all of the new cypress siding with an oil based primer, because this is what I heard should be done from several sources. But after we did that side we found we had to replace a little in the back so I made another trip to the lumberyard. They said we shouldn't back prime cypress. .. .that the moisture actually enhances it's resistance to rot. So, we didn't backprime the back. Have you heard anything regarding this?
