Well you do have options here, yes you can restain your brick with an acrylic concrete stain or a thinned down flat house paint and it is breathable. You could stain the brick with a color close to your brick and then do a faux finish of some other colors to create the affect of an old brick home. You have many options to do with out getting to expensive.
