The first reason for me wanting to use rough cut lumber is cost. Yes I do own a forrest 35 acres.I do not want to build a conventional house. I live in upstate New York and I also live in a snow belt area off lake ontario. My plans are to build with the exterior walls at 8 inches thick for better insulation. This is going to throw off all the conventional measurments I know. I have a few years to work on the problems of using rough cut lumber. I also do not mind putting time in on this project milling lumber. As for drying the lumber I plan on air drying it over time. I do not know what you mean about exposing the wood. I want to use rough cut lumber for all the framing and trusses the rest will be manufactured materials. Thank you for your comments and I look forward to more.
