Just pulled up all the carpeting in our "new" home, and I figure most of it has been there about 30 years. The carpet was wall-to-wall in all rooms but one. In that room, there was an area carpet with padding underneath. The entire padding stuck to the floor, and we have only been able to get part of the top layer off using a flat hoe (engineering marvels that we are). There are hardwoods (oak) throughout the house, and we want to keep them exposed.
We do not want to have the floor refinished at this time, due to a planned renovation project next year during which we will add on to the house.
In light of this, is there anything mechanical or chemical that will get this nasty mess off our floors? We have considered getting a friend to come over with his Electrolux Floor Cleaner--I'm told it has a "scrubbie pad" bottom on it.
