We have an older keyless pad. It was wired into an in-garage wall button, which in turn was wired to the opener. I removed the wall button and it had a 9V battery inside. I changed the battery. The front of the button had a removable panel that had a switch inside. Flip the switch to program (up). This causes the red light on the panel to blink. Firmly enter your 4 digit code into the keypad. Change the switch In the wall button back to its original position. Your good to go! Also, try this web site (generic model instructions) www.liftmaster-garage-opener.com/proginforwir1.html
