Replacing T&G HW floor boards - matching???

Posted by Dave on April 13th, 1999 02:11 PM

I have 20 year old HW floors that I am in the process of getting estimates for refinishing. The floors are not stained. They are natural white oak. The floors have been under W-W carpet the whole time. One company wants to replace boards that are urine stained (previous owner seemed to let his dog go everywhere). My question is, will the look of the new boards be the same as the old boards? I realize wood differs from one board to another, I am just wondering if these areas are going to stand out anyway why should I pay the money to replace them.

Thanks, everyone, great site!
