Replacing Oil Furnace

Posted by B. Barbaro on March 18th, 2002 09:36 AM

We have a 20 year old oil, forced hot water furnace that we have been told needs to be replaced. It is 134,000 btus and heats a 4 bedroom colonial home in southern New Hampshire. Do you have any recommendations on brands of furnaces? What should we expect to pay?

Our furnace repairman told us that they only sell Weil-McLain furnaces and it will cost us $3,000 to have it replaced. We don't know if this is reasonable, or if we should consider other brands.
