Replacing Glass

Hi Melanie,

You don't remove the wooden part of the window to fix the glass. If your handy, you can repair them by removing the broken glass from the frame. Scrape the old putty and remove the small metal "points" that held the glass in. Measure the frame area for the new glass, both height and width. You can purchase the glass at most hardware stores. You also need to buy putty and glaser points. Place the glass back in the frame, push in the points all around the window to hold it in place. Four on each side should be enough. Then you putty all around the window to make it weather tight. Be careful when handling the glass, both new and old, wear gloves to keep from cutting yourself.

If your not handy, there is probably a handyman in your area that will do this for you.
