Replacing a toilet myself

Posted by Melissa on July 27th, 2000 10:35 AM

OK, I'll be honest. I've been calling my superb plumber for all plumbing jobs and my checkbook can't take it this month. I'd like to replace the flooring in my half bath with tile or Pergo. The only sticking point is removing the toilet. I've done some research and I think I can handle draining the tank, removing the lug bolts at the bottom, and moving it. My question is what's the wax seal? Wax flange? Do I need to replace it if I'm just going to be putting the same toilet back again? Should I remove the toilet but then have my plumber put it back in? I'd really like to start learning how to do some of this stuff myself. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
