Replacing 2 slot wall outlet with 3 slot.

Hello, My older house has 2-slot electrical outlets throughout. I want to replace them with the 3-slot variety. I think all I have to do insofar as grounding each outlet is to run a "pig tail" so-to-speak from the green screw and clip said pg to the side of the outlet box. Is this OK assuming that the entire house is grounded via a bare copper wire which runs from the fuse panel to a rod buried in the ground outside the house ? Thank you. Sincerely Rich Comyns
