My first thoughts were Old English furniture polish and the Minwax colored wax wood filler, depending on the depth and severity of the scratches. But there are so many variations to a question like this that it's impossible to discuss completely here. Bob Flexner's book, Understanding Wood Finishing, has a short chapter on this subject and most libraries have or can get the book. I'm not trying to sell books for him, but that book is what I grab when I want to be sure that I'm going in the right direction.
