Two Cents............If the splinter is fresh you can get away with yellow carpenter's glue........but the epoxy fills the gaps better.........(Help choosing an epoxy?......Generally the slower the cure the "better", stonger, more waterproof......)

Mix the epoxy on a paper plate.......(half a clothes pin makes a great applicator tool)..... and apply between the splinter and board...........Use a couple thin finish nails (or staple gun) to "pin" the sliver to the floor(just start the nail, don't set it)..........after the glue dries pull the nails and sand the surface to match the surroundings.............
