Jim:
There are still some parts available, and more importantly Sears has contracted with CG Industries of Illinos to repair circuit boards for these cooktops. No ONE at "SEARS REPAIR" is aware of this!! The microcontroller board is part # 12994. It is NLA in Sears repair catalog BUT part 12994R is avaiable IF you return your board for the new board. The part system calls for "RETFORREPAIR" or just "R" after certain part numbers. These numbers are parts that are rebuilt by CG under contract with SEARS. I was also told you can send in whole burner units from your cooktop to be rebuilt for around $150. each.
No repair person at Sears has ever seen any of these units in my experience so they don't even know where to start. You will have to tell them what I have posted here.
