Renvation of French Doors

Posted by Anooh on December 19th, 2000 10:22 PM

I am remodeling a 36 year old English Tudor. I have chosen to replace all the windows and French doors with high quality, divided light replacements. However, there is a problem: I have 6 French doors, which are 4' wide by 8'6" tall. I have not been able to find standard size replacements for these and custom door quotes are around $3600 each! All that for 6 inches!!

Unfortunately I can not change the door size as the exterior is made of brick that is no longer available. So, what are my options in renovating these doors and what should I expect as the cost? I assume the dry rot areas need to be removed and replaced and paint needs to be stripped and reapplied, same thing with the doorjamb, etc. Any ideas?
