My wife and I bought a old country 2 bedroom home with low (7ft.) ceilings on the first floor. We got a good deal but had to live with the low ceiling height. We now have a few bucks to remodel and put on an addition to the existing home. Economically, should we :1)"raise" the first floor (house is two 10x12 bedrooms on top of two 10x12 rooms)and keep the rooms upstairs plus add on to the existing house or 2) tear out the ceiling to create a faulted ceiling living room/kitchen and add the bedrooms on in an addition. What sounds more practical and economical? Thanks.
