Kerry, there is a gadget called a paper tiger that you roll across the walls so that it pricks small holes in the paper surface. Use one to go all over your walls first and then apply either a wallpaper removal solution or a vinegar and water solution with a couple of drops of dishwashing detergent to the walls with a wet sponge. The holes allow the solution to get under the paper and release the glue that holds it on.

A paper tiger and removal solution are available at home centers and paint-wallpaper stores.
