i used a warm water solution with a couple of drops of ordinary dish detergent. i wetted down the area with a spray bottle. Then i used a windshield wiper unit as a squegee(sp?), as i couldnt find my normal window squegee, to remove the liquid from the wall. After running the blade i would run it across a damp sponge to remove the goo. I had to do this process about three times to get a 99% clean wall.
