Removing wall paper applied to unpainted drywall

Posted by Jim (in a jam) on March 9th, 2003 05:08 PM

We punched a hole in the bedroom wall with the corner of a desk we were moving. To repair the wall, a piece of drywall about six inches square will have to be replaced.

It looks like the wall paper was applied to unpainted drywall. The wall paper is about ten years old, so we probably won't be able to match it. We're thinking about painting or re-wall papering the whole room.

What is the best way to remove the wallpaper?

If I can match the wall paper, how can I replace just the damaged area.

Jim
