Removing popcorn ceiling

Posted by Mike C. on February 5th, 2003 09:06 PM

Another drywall question.

I'm removing the popcorn ceiling in my upstairs. I've got a small spray bottle and spray the ceiling with water, then scrape it off with a plastic putty knife. The removal is coming along fine.

Now the question. It will probably be several months before I get all of the drywall work done. In the mean time, the ceiling looks crappy. Can I paint the ceiling with ceiling paint or some type of primer to make it look better in the meantime. I want to have the ceilings blown again, but I don't want to bring anybody in until the ceilings are all finished.

Opinions? Will the new popcorn stick to primer or latex paint as well as it would unpainted drywall?
