Hi, Kim. You really made me think on this one and I still don't have an answer. A chemical stripper is out since it will probably ruin the surface of the Formica and I do not suggest using even "environmentally safe" strippers while you are expecting. Scrapping with a razor blade in a holder will probably scratch the Formica to some extent. Your best bet will probably be to scuff sand the Formica along with the rest of the piece and repaint the whole thing.

Aside from that, I have a problem with a piece of furniture with Formica on it being called an antique. Is this an old piece that somebody put the Formica on or did it come that way from the factory? No matter what, the color/design of the Formica will probably not match your current decor so I question why you want to remove the paint.
