I have plans(self drawn) to expand a small farm house and it will require me to place two beams in the attic so I can support the roof truses. I do not want to create a header since it will run throught the middle of my expansion. I will attempt to tie the truse plates to the beams. One beam will be 21 1/2 ft and the other is 24 1/2 ft.
The roof is a standard 1 ply shingle and the area of pick up will be approx. 264 sq. ft of roof and 300 sq. ft. of roof. I need to know how what size beams would be required. Any Help?
