My husband wants to install granite tiles for the kitchen counter.
Some say we can install tiles on top of the existing fromica counter.
He has also considered removing it and tiling over the plywood. We ahve a countertop with a built in backsplash. We have looked for screws under the cabinets to remove the countertop. But, can't seem to find any. In addition there is a lazy susan in the corner and there seems to be space between the lazy susan and the wall and we don't know how to remove the existing counter top without removing the bottom cabinets etc.
Could you help us with suggestions as to how to remove the existing counter top withot having to remove the cabinets below?
or if we could tile over the existing countertop how can we remove the backsplash form the mold? Can it be sawed off somehow?
Personally I feel it will be lot easier to remove the existing countertop and tile and build a tile backsplah. I may be wrong. I am not the one doing the work. I am just an idea person!
