removing ceramic tile

Posted by T J on September 5th, 2001 08:38 PM

We have just purchased a home and are making some minor updates before we move in. We are thinking of removing ceramic tile from the kitchen (There is a lot of it!)to give it a more updated look. Does this still fall in the category of minor update? The house was built in 1950 with all plaster walls instead of drywall. The tile is original as far as we can tell. Is this something that we novices could do, or do we need to call in the big guns and pay a professional?
