My friend Jane gave me a great suggestion for removing some very difficult foil wallpaper. I had tried scoring the wallpaper, treatment with DIF, and steaming, all to no avail. The *%*&^$# stuff came off in tiny bits and I was gouging the wallboard. Jane suggested that I sand the wallpaper first, and it worked like a charm! I used 100 grit (fairly coarse) sandpaper and a small electric sander. The sandpaper took off a lot of the foil surface, so the steamer could work on the glue. I didn't need to score the wallpaper, and it came off in big sheets.
