My daughter recently purchased a townhouse with concrete floors. Dogs had been allowed to urinate on the floor for a number of years. Before they sold the house they covered the floor with a wooden (Bruce) floor. The ammonia smell comes through. We are prepared to tear up the wood floor to fix the problem, but people are saying that we should tear up the cement floor as well. Is there any way to seal off or remove the urine smell from the concrete and possibly the kitchen tile (possibly using a crack isolation membrane) or do we need to tear up the whole floor.
